“Bruckner's profound and powerful Mass in D minor was the composer's first success story, opening his path to public awareness as a great composer of church music and a representative of the symphonic style. Inspired by Mozart's Requiem, the work makes rich use of the sounds of the Romantic period and is striking in its solidity and devout seriousness.”
